President Bola Tinubu has expressed his determination to safeguard Nigeria against all forms of terrorism and eradicate extreme poverty within the country.
In his inaugural address as the 16th President of Nigeria, delivered at the Eagle Square on Monday, Tinubu emphasized his commitment to achieving these goals through initiatives such as job creation, ensuring food security, and putting an end to extreme poverty.
He further pledged to combat corruption by strengthening anti-corruption agencies. Before his speech, Tinubu acknowledged the efforts of his predecessor, former President Muhammadu Buhari, stating that Buhari had been an honest and patriotic leader who had done his utmost for the nation.
Tinubu also outlined his administration’s proactive measures, including the promotion of a credit culture to discourage corruption and the enhancement of the efficiency and effectiveness of various anti-corruption bodies.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at 10:40 am, with Chief Justice of the Federation Olukayode Ariwoola administering the oath of office to President Tinubu, followed by the oath-taking of Vice President Kashim Shettima.
