Senator Ademola Adeleke wins Osun State Governorship elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has appealed the Osun state governorship election petition tribunal’s decision to remove Governor Ademola Adeleke as the state’s governor.

The tribunal had ruled that INEC should revoke the certificate of return issued to Adeleke and issue it to Adegboyega Oyetola, who was declared the winner after deducting illegitimate votes.

The appeal was based on 44 grounds and names Oyetola, the All Progressives Congress, Adeleke, and the Peoples Democratic Party as respondents.

The appeal claims that the tribunal committed a legal error and asks the court to grant the appeal and vacate the ruling, as well as dismiss the petition for a lack of competence and jurisdiction.
