The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has confirmed the arrest and detention of Nigerian musician Oladipo Daniel Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’Banj, over the investigation of fraud
The news of D’banj’s arrest was trending in the early hours of Wednesday after some social media blogs reported the singer’s arrest, with the ICPC confirming the news hours later.
The singer was arrested and detained over his involvement in a fraud investigation associated N-Power programme funds.
The ICPC had received numerous petitions on the diversion of N-Power funds running into billions of naira following the approval and release of such funds to the beneficiaries by the Federal Government.
Many beneficiaries had issued complaints over the non-receipt of their allowance even after payment confirmations by the Government.
About 10 people had been invited by the commission for questioning in connection to this fraud investigation but several invitations sent to D’banj to appear before the ICPC was ignored and not honoured.
