Troops from Operation Hadin Kai successfully neutralized 10 Boko Haram terrorists during a recent offensive targeting their base between Rann and Gamboru Ngala, near the Nigerian-Cameroon border. This operation is part of the ongoing military clearance efforts in the Southern Lake Chad region.
The Borno State capital, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, Theatre Commander of the North-East Joint Task Force Operations Hadin Kai, reported that several ammunition items were seized during the operation, which took place in the border community of Manawaji. These included anti-aircraft ammunition and other ordinance weapons that are believed to have been looted during a prior attack on the Cameroon Defense Force.

He stated, “Our troops are intensifying sustained operations to clear the Southern lakes in the border communities.” In this latest mission, the forces engaged in direct conflict with the terrorists in Manawaji, resulting in the neutralization of ten militants, alongside the recovery of various weapons and ammunition, including anti-aircraft rounds.
General Abubakar noted, “We suspect the anti-aircraft ammunition was stolen in an earlier attack on Cameroon Defense Force positioned in Cameroon.” Ngala is situated 154 kilometers from Maiduguri, while Rann, which serves as the headquarters for the Kalabalge Local Government Area, is 183 kilometers away; both communities lie on the fringes of Lake Chad.
The theater commander praised the troop’s efforts in bringing stability to the Lake Chad region and its bordering communities. He highlighted that the recent enhancement of fighting equipment has raised troop morale significantly, assuring that operations will continue until the last terrorist is neutralized in the area.
